Samsung is successful all over the world because it is good at changing, unlike Nokia and Apple, the two famous mobile phone manufacturers. The Nokia used to be proud for the solid quality of its mobile phones, so it is always on the top. But nowadays, the quality is not the most important anymore. Instead people care about the fashion design and diverse functions. That’s why iPhone series become so popular.
However, there is problem that Nokia and Apple have their own patterns that won’t change easily. Nokia recently have tried new strategies by releasing new products frequently with little changes actually. People satirized Nokia’s recent move as “Cover changing strategy” – simply change the cover with no difference inside. Apple is so proud of its simplicity design that all the products, like Mac, iPad, iPod, iPhone look nearly the same. But who knows when the customers will get sick of this?
Samsung is a unique company. Samsung pay lots of attention on the cover design of its mobile phones. Samsung has established thousands of research centers worldwide. What is that for? The research centers will make study on habits and preferences of the locals. Then the Samsung manufactures will release the special designed products for them. That’s why Samsung can catch up with the most famous manufacturers and finally become a dangerous competitor.
Samsung is not a pioneer but a follower-a successful follower. It follows Nokia to release mobile phone as well as Apple iPad to release Galaxy Tab. But it managed to hold its own market.
